Ferndale Schools showing support for LGBTQ state guidelines

FERNDALE, Mich. – The Board of Education for the Ferndale School District unanimously agreed to support state guidelines that generate acceptance of the LGBTQ community.

The policy will allow students to use the restroom that matches their gender identity and requires teachers to refer to students using names of their choice.

Ferndale's superintendent Blake Prewitt says the next step is to contact the state board to let them know there are schools that support what they're doing for the LGBTQ community.
