Sheriff's Office: Strange man approached 11-year-old boy in Washington Township

Man's vehicle described as minivan with tinted windows

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said an unknown man approached an 11-year-old boy Wednesday morning in Washington Township and asked him to get inside his vehicle.

The boy was on his way to his school bus stop about 7:35 a.m. when the man stopped his vehicle and asked the boy to get inside. The boy was frightened and started walking back toward his apartment to tell his mother, according to the Sheriff's Office. The man turned around his vehicle and began to follow the boy, who started to run toward his home in the Stony Creek Apartments on Van Dyke just north of 27 Mile Road. The man then drove away from the area.

The child described the vehicle as a newer blue minivan with black tinted windows. The boy said he couldn't describe the driver because he didn't roll down the tinted windows all the way. However, the boy said the man spoke "clear English," according to the Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information on this incident or the vehicle described needs to contact the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at 586-307-9412.
