Abilgail Kopf shot in head Feb. 20 by alleged gunman Jason Dalton

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Two months after she was shot in a shooting rampage by a man in Kalamazoo, 14-year-old Abigail Kopf is going home.

The teen was shot in the head Feb. 20 by alleged gunman Jason Dalton, who is also accused of shooting seven other people -- six of whom died.

Doctors initally thought Kopf might be brain dead, but she gradually set milestones by squeezing her mother's hand, taking steps and speaking again.

She underwent a six-week intense therapy program in Grand Rapids, and finished it on Wednesday.

Kopfs said she's most excited about being able to see friends once she is home.

Dalton is awaiting trial on six counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The family said they will update the teen's progress on the Facebook page, "Abbie Kopf's Recovery," and through the family's online funding page.
