Man pleads guilty in drunk driving crash that killed teen in Fraser

Julius Jones killed, 3 others hurt in March crash on Groesbeck Highway

FRASER, Mich. – A driver charged with being drunk behind the wheel when he rear-ended a car on Groesbeck Highway, killing a 19-year-old Roseville High School senior, has pleaded guilty.

Julius Jones, 19, was killed March 12  when the Lincoln Mark 8 he was in with three other young people was rear-ended by a Buick SUV near 14 Mile Road in Fraser.

Police said the Buick's driver, 24-year-old Kyle Kumbo, was speeding and blew a .134 on a preliminary breath test.

Kumbo on Monday pleaded guilty to charges of operating under the influence of alcohol causing death and operating while intoxicated causing incapacitating injury. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 16.

Jones and the other victims all went to Roseville High School.
