Students arrested for having loaded guns on school property in Garden City

Superintendent: Students will face expulsion

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Two Cambridge High School students are in police custody after two loaded guns were found Tuesday on school property.

Cambridge High School is an alternative school in the Garden City School District.

Two guns were discovered thanks to a school administrator who became suspicious of a couple of students and their behavior. The school was placed on lockdown at about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday while police and school officials performed a thorough investigation.

One of the guns was found inside the school and the other was found outside, but on school grounds.

The students involved are Garden City residents and the superintendent said they will face expulsion.

Based on the initial investigation, the students didn’t plan to hurt anybody.

“There is absolutely no indication of a threat or plan to harm any member of the student body or staff,” Garden City Police Chief Bob Muery said.

The incident is under investigation.
