Marie Colburn, 30, was found dead by her mother April 22 in her apartment on Ridgemont Drive in Pontiac.

“That sight will never leave my head. I will never, ever, ever really get past that," her mother, Cynthia Simmons, said. "I opened up the coat closet and that's when I found her."

Colburn was suffocated, the medical examiner's office said.

Wiley is on parole after being convicted of manslaughter and second-degree home invasion in a Wayne County case, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections. He also cut his tether off, the state said.
