Police: Teen crashed into Hartland Township home, causing explosion

Police believe drugs may have been factor in the crash

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police said a 17-year-old girl crashed into a home Sunday night after she lost control of her 2003 Lexus in Livingston County.

The crash happened about 10:05 p.m. in the 1300 block of Denver Drive in the Hartland Meadows mobile home park.

The car also crashed into a gas line, rupturing it and causing an explosion at the home, police said. The mobile home sustained damage from both the explosion and the crash.

According to Michigan State Police, the female driver was transported by Livingston County EMS to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Preliminary investigations indicate she may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Hartland Township Fire Department, DTE Energy and Consumers Energy.

Troopers are still investigating.
