Michigan State Police bust dog fighting ring; 25 dogs found, 5 people arrested

Police execute search warrants in Inkster, Westland

DETROIT – Michigan State Police have seized more than a dozen dogs and arrested five people as part of an investigation into a dog fighting ring.

MSP said search warrants that were executed Thursday in Inkster and Westland uncovered dog fighting equipment, cocaine, marijuana and $25,000.

Twenty-five dogs were turned over to animal care experts to be evaluated, and are being held as part of the investigation, police said.

Parents on the street knew of the dogs and were so afraid of them they wouldn't let their kids play in their front yards.

A mini treadmill was recovered which was used to turn dogs into fighting machines.
