Some Macomb homes evacuated after gas leak

2-inch main hit on White Plains Drive, Consumers Energy says

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – About a dozen homes in Macomb on White Plains Drive were evacuated Thursday after a gas line was hit, Consumers Energy said.

Spokeswoman Debra Dodd said there was not a detection of gas in the homes after the 2-inch main was hit, but the evacuation was a safety precaution.

Dodd said everyone was allowed back in their homes Thursday afternoon. Four customers will be without gas service while repairs continue.

Crews were expected to repair the main quickly.Â
