Man arrested for alleged sexual assault on flight attendant in Romulus

Man turned himself in with his attorney, police say

ROMULUS, Mich. – The Romulus Police Department announced Saturday the suspect wanted for allegedly raping a flight attendant at a hotel in Romulus has been arrested.

Police say 44-year-old Dwaun Parkman and his attorney came to the Romulus Police Department to turn himself in where he was arrested and placed in custody.

“We would like to thank our law-enforcement partners for all their hard work and additional resources. We are very grateful to the public and media outlets for all the tips and assistance. When we work as a team no criminal will be able to escape justice. We are pleased that he is off the streets, we can now move forward with his day in court”, said Captain Shelby.

Surveillance video taken from the night of the attack shows Parkman walking around the lobby of the Days Inn and disappearing from view, only to be seen a short time later leaving the hotel.

The 18-year-old flight attendant reported the rape after Parkman left and officials worked quickly to identify him.

Police say he turned himself in without incident and investigations are ongoing.
