Man in critical condition after sports bike crash in Clinton Township

It is unknown if the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Clinton Township Police Department said a man riding a motorcycle crashed late Saturday night in Clinton Township, near southbound Utica Road north of 15 mile.

Officials say a 30-year-old man was riding his motorcycle around 10:30 p.m., on July 2, when he drifted into the driveway of the Royal Touch car wash, crashing into the side before landing on the boulevard grass.

The Clinton Township Police said the driver of the motorcycle sustained serious head injuries in the crash, and was transported to the McLaren Macomb Hospital ICU in critical condition.

A helmet was found at the scene, but it is unknown if the driver was wearing it at the time of the crash.

Investigators say they don't know if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash adding the motorcycle was a 'sports bike' type of motorcycle.
