Man dies in crash on Stewart Road in Frenchtown Township

Victim identified as 60-year-old Martin Washington of Carleton


FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 60-year-old man died early Monday morning when his car went off Stewart Road in Frenchtown Township. 

Martin Washington, of Carleton, was eastbound on Stewart Road just east of Bluebush Road when the pickup truck he was driving crossed the center and went into a ditch, hitting several trees, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said. 

He was pronounced dead at a hospital. 

The Sheriff's Office said speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
