Man in wheelchair tied up, robbed of $4,000 by prostitute

Pontiac police are investigating an armed robbery where they say a 71-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was robbed at gunpoint in his home.

Authorities say the victim met a woman near the intersection of Baldwin Ave. and Rutgers around 2:30 a.m., in Pontiac, adding that the woman was a prostitute.

The two went to the victim’s home near West Rutgers, when the woman called another man to the home, police say.

The man came inside the victim’s home and pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim.

The woman tied the victim up to his wheelchairchair, and the two suspects proceeded to take his wallet, cellphone and a safe containing $4,000 cash.

After the suspects fled, the victim was able to free himself and sought assistance from a nearby business, police said.

Deputies were able to collect possible DNA evidence from the scene.

The suspects are described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing around 120 pounds.  The male suspect is described as a black male.

Police did not release any more information on the suspects.
