16-year-old boy shot, killed overnight on Detroit's east side

DETROIT – A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Friday morning in a drive-by shooting on Detroit's east side, police said.

Terell Coleman was standing at the corner of Roxbury Street and Casino Avenue with his brothers when a black vehicle pulled up and someone inside started firing.

His family lives on Roxbury Street.

“He was with his brothers,” Terell's mother, Rhonda Martin, said. “All of the sudden they came in and woke me out of my sleep.”

Terell was shot and his 24-year-old brother took him to the hospital, where he later died.

“He’s gone too soon,” Rhonda Martin said.

Evidence technicians at the scene could not locate any sign of a shooting. No shell casings were found.

The incident remains under investigation. No other information is available.
