DETROIT – A 24-year-old Detroit man has been charged in connection with the Tuesday night shooting of a 7-year-old boy on Fairfield Street.
Police said Torrey Craft had an argument with men related to his 4-year-old daughter's mother Monday when they refused to let him into their home in the Fairfield Manor housing complex. He returned to Fairfield Street Tuesday night and was in the courtyard area when he saw the same men.
Police said Craft fired a handgun at the men and hit a 7-year-old boy. The boy was injured in the groin area and taken to the hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Craft was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent and felony firearm.
He is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
