DETROIT – A Detroit mother is heartbroken after her 10-month-old daughter was killed in a tragic accident Thursday night.
Jada Taylor was killed at a home on Detroit's west side when she wandered into the path of her mother's SUV. Before Symone Stewart could notice, it was too late.
Stewart accidently ran Jada over in her boyfriend's driveway. She reached out to Local 4's Shawn Ley because she said she wants prayers and needs people to know the facts.
"One half of the blink of an eye, my baby was gone," Stewart said.
Stewart said she was simply moving her SUV, and now she is hurting in a way she never thought was possible.
"I decided I was going to wash the car," she said. "I made sure all of my kids were out of the way. I hopped in the car and started it, and as soon as I pulled up, I saw my cousin coming from the side in the hallway, saying, 'No, stop.' ... I hopped out of the car and saw my baby laying on the concrete."
Stewart said when she heard someone yelling for her to stop, she thought there was a child in front of her vehicle, so she put it in reverse. That's when she backed into her daughter.
"I just miss her so much," she said. "I would love for all of you to pray for me, my family, your family, cause it can happen to anyone. It was an accident, and now my baby is gone. She can never be replaced."
Stewart said it's too early to make funeral arrangements. She wants to give her daughter a funeral that will appropriately honor Jada.
A GoFundMe has been created to help with Jada's funeral arrangements.
