2 dead after Amtrak passenger train collides with truck in Wayne

WAYNE, Mich. – Two people are dead after their truck collided with an Amtrak passenger train Wednesday night in the city of Wayne.

The crash happened at about 10:40 p.m. at the level crossing on Venoy Road south of Michigan Avenue.

Police said the truck attempted to pass through a railroad crossing after the gate arms were down. The man and the woman in the truck were killed.

Amtrak train 358 was in route from Chicago to Pontiac.

There were no injuries reported for the 90 passengers on train or crew.

The train was delayed two hours and 45 minutes before continuing.
