Waterford Township police arrest suspected 'cowboy hat' bank robber

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Waterford Township police said they arrested the man suspected of robbing a bank Sept. 1 while wearing a cowboy hat.

Police had been searching for the suspect for about a week after the robbery at the Citizens Bank on Highland Road. Surveillance video from the bank showed the suspect wearing a cowboy hat during the robbery.

Kevin Ryan McClanahan was arrested Wednesday at the Parkway Motel in Springfield Township, police said. He is charged with one count of bank robbery, for which he was arraigned this week. His bond was set at $250,000 cash. He is being held at the Oakland County Jail and is scheduled to be back in court Sept. 20 for a pre-trial conference. 

From Waterford Township police: 

Waterford Detectives arrested 25 year old Kevin Ryan McClanahan on September 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parkway Motel in Springfield Township, after he was previously spotted by a Waterford Detective outside the motel. He was taken into custody without incident. Members of the Oakland County Fugitive Apprehension Team and the Michigan State Police assisted in his apprehension.
