DETROIT – Hundreds gathered for dinner at Eastern Market Thursday evening, to launch the United Way's annual fundraising campaign.
The group supports programs for early development, healthy children and college and career goals.
This year's theme focuses on family.
Fiat Chrysler CEO and Volunteer Chairman Sergio Marchionne explained why he enjoys being involved with the campaign, "Because this stuff gets to people at the right places, in a town like this, in a region like this. This is where you can make a difference and you got to get to the kids."
Marchionne says his goal is to help raise $100,000,000 to commemorate the United Way's 100th Anniversary.
