Saturday night clear, chilly in metro Detroit

Overnight lows in 40s, 50s

DETROIT – Big Ten college football is in Michigan, and it feels like fall! Skies will be bright. Grab your jackets and sunglasses.

Saturday morning will have clearing skies as clouds move south and east. Before the sun rises, there will be some fog, especially in our West (west of I-275) and North (north of Hall Road) Zones. Remain alert in spots with visibility 2 miles or less. Use your low-beams. Temps start in the middle 50s in Detroit and in the 40s and low 50s in surrounding towns. Skies become sunnier and any fog dissipates by mid- to late-morning.

The Michigan State Spartans play the Wisconsin Badgers at 12 noon ET in East Lansing. Spartans Stadium will be rockin' with green and white. Blue skies will be overhead at kickoff with temps in the middle and upper 60s.

More great weather for outdoor sports, midday. The Detroit Tigers play the Kanas City Royal at 1:05pmET at Comerica Park. Temps will start in the upper 60s.

Saturday afternoon will be filled with energy at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines battle Penn State at 3:30pm ET. It will be mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s at kickoff. Remember your sunglasses at the game or in Detroit or anywhere in Southeast Michigan. Great day to go to the cider mill with the family. Also, its Museum Day, and that means free admission to the Michigan Science Center in Detroit and the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn.

Saturday evening will be cool and crisp with fair skies and temps in the 60s. Remember your jackets if your going to the Cattle Baron's Ball at Cobo, the Wright Gala at the Wright Museum or Chance The Rapper at the Fox Theatre; all in Detroit.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and seasonably mild for autumn's first Sunday. Highs will be in the low  and middle 70s.

Another cold front approaches Monday. Scattered showers and storms are possible with highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday and the rest of the work week will be noticeably cooler, especially at night. Residents can give their fireplaces a first-try. Temps will be in the 40s at night; snuggle-weather. Daytime temps will be in the 60s with sunshine mid-week. Thursday and Friday will have sunshine with the mercury returning to the 70s.
