DETROIT – Police have taken the suspected gunman from a barricaded situation Wednesday into custody Thursday afternoon in Shelby Township
The suspect was taken arrested in the area of 23 Mile and Mound roads.

What happened
The situation unfolded at a home on E. Brentwood Street and the I-75 service drive.
Police said that a woman’s 25-year-old ex-boyfriend came to the home just before 3 a.m. and an argument ensued. The woman called her new boyfriend and police said the ex-boyfriend fired several shots.
Officers arrived at the home and were allowed inside. Shots were fired inside the home and officers grabbed two children, ages 1 and 2, and ran outside. The woman also escaped the home.
“The officers, as I mentioned, heroic, they came to the location, heard them arguing,” Detroit police Commander Elvin Barren said. “Upon the entry, the suspect escalated by throwing objects at the officers, then shots were fired.”
A massive perimeter was set and residents in the area were told to “shelter in place.”
Police said they were not able to make contact with the gunman and believed that he may have escaped the home when officers removed the children.
