Family seeks justice after 25-year-old woman dies in hit-and-run crash

A 25-year-old woman tragically lost her life when her car was hit by a suspected drunken driver in Washington Township.

Family members of the victim say Marissah Haack had just dropped off her co-worker when a man driving a white car crashed into her.

Marissah died as a result of her injuries from the crash.

“She helped everybody; we gave her so much love, but I never realize that the love that we gave her she was constantly giving to others,” said Marissah’s mother, Diane Haack. “I just want everyone to know she was so special, she was so inspirational, she was great,”

Family members and friends are devastated over the loss of Marissah, and they all are in agreement that the man responsible should be punished.

“I do want him to pay the price for what he did. He's an older man, you know better. You know better than to get in the car while you're drunk and drive, you know better, it's no excuse for it, he stole her,” said Haack.

“I'm just waiting for her to call me or text me to hear her voice one more time and I can't and I can't hear her tell me that she loves me,” said Marissah’s brother, Maurice.

Michigan State Police are still investigating the crash and they’re waiting on reports to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The family has started a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses.
