TROY, Mich. – An Allen Park man just days away from his wedding was killed Thursday morning in an accident on I-75 in Troy.

According to Troy police, Patrick Arthurs, 43, got out of his car on northbound I-75 just south of Crooks Road when his 2004 Cadillac apparently broke down. A passing semi hit him as he stood on the side of the interstate with the car's hood up. Arthurs was thrown several feet from the point of impact.

The semi driver did stop and report the crash. The truck was hauling cement powder. The lights on Arthur's Cadillac were not on and the emergency flashers were not on, according to police.

Arthurs was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Sources say Arthurs was to be married on Saturday. He worked at GM in Pontiac.

The incident remains under investigation by the Troy Police members of the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT).  Witness are asked to contact the Troy Police at 248-524-3477.
