Carjacker throws child to ground while stealing her father's SUV in Harper Woods

Police search for stolen 2007 Ford Edge

HARPER WOODS, Mich. – A 2-year-old girl was injured Tuesday when a man threw her to the ground while carjacking her father's SUV, police said.

Police said the Harper Woods man was pulling into his driveway in the 1900 block of Kenosha Street at 11:18 p.m. when two black men with handguns approached him.

The man was ordered to the ground at gunpoint and his 2-year-old daughter was thrown from the car, police said.

The 2-year-old girl suffered a minor injury and is expected to fully recover, officials said. Her father was not injured during the carjacking.

Police said the men fled the scene in the 2007 Ford Edge and were followed by a light-colored SUV. Police believe that the victim was followed home from the Harper and Moross area.

The Ford Edge has not been recovered. It has Michigan plate BFV330. Detectives are working to identify the accused carjackers.
