Singer, Songwriter Leonard Cohen Dies at 82


NBC – Influential singer, songwriter Leonard Cohen has died, it was announced Thursday on his official Facebook page.

He was 82.

"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away," the post said.

"We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief."

His record label Sony Music Canada also confirmed the news on Twitter.

The Canadian-born artist released his final album "You Want It Darker" was released in October.
