Father shot during carjacking while family out house hunting in Detroit

Victim expected to be OK

DETROIT – A man out house hunting with his wife and child was shot during a carjacking on Detroit's east side Sunday night.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. on Yorkshire Road near Outer Drive, Detroit police say.

Police say the family was looking at a home they were interested in buying when a man walked up and pulled out a gun.

“He ordered them out of the car and somehow the gun went off," Detroit police Commander Eric Ewing said. “He shot one of the victims in the buttocks."

Fortunately the couple were able to get their child out of the car before it was stolen but a shot was fired, hitting the dad, who is expected to be OK.
