DETROIT – A mother and her boyfriend were in court Tuesday morning on murder charges in the death of a 16-month-old girl.
Christopher Scott Olinger, 23, and Asia Markham, 27, are charged with first-degree murder and first degree child abuse after Amiena Markham died from blunt-force trauma to the chest.

Police were called to a home in Hamtramck in the 2600 block of Commor Avenue on Oct. 25 at about 11:30 a.m. where the mother outside holding her infant daughter who was unresponsive. The toddler was taken to a nearby medical facility where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities said Olinger fled the scene and led them on a brief chase. Authorities also said that Asia Markham told police several versions of what happened to her daughter.
Asia Markham has two other children, ages 6 and 10, and they are staying with her mother.
Both Asia Markham and Olinger are being held without bond.
