54-year-old man charged in attempted larceny of charity donations from Walmart in Livonia

LIVONIA, Mich. – A Westland man was taken into custody Sunday after stealing a Children’s Miracle Network donation canister from a Walmart store in Livonia, authorities said.

Mark Wilson, 54, is charged with larceny under $200.

Police said Wilson went to the Walmart store on Plymouth Road in Livonia at about 9:45 p.m. and put the nearly 3-foot canister full of charity donations into a shopping cart. He pushed the cart out the front doors and loaded it into the bed of his pickup truck in the parking lot, police said.

Wilson was confronted by Walmart loss prevention officers and the container and its cash were recovered.

Livonia police took Wilson into custody.

He was arraigned Tuesday. Bond was set at $9,000.
