Be wary of these drivers during the holidays

Study shows worst drivers by state

DETROIT – If you are one of millions hitting the roads this Thanksgiving, make sure you keep both hands on the wheel if you find yourself in Louisiana or Texas.

According to a new study by CarInsuranceComparison.com, Louisiana and Texas are tied for the state with the worst drivers.

The study is based on data from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and looked at five categories: fatal car crashes per 100 million miles traveled, failure to wear seat belts or obey traffic signals, drunk driving, speeding and careless driving.

As for the states with the best drivers, Minnesota comes out on top followed by Vermont.

Those in Michigan would be happy to know the state has some of the best drivers, coming in 44th (51 being the best). However, when it came to careless driving, Michigan drivers ranked towards the bottom.
