Uncle charged in fatal shooting of 16-year-old nephew in Detroit
A Detroit man was charged Wednesday in connection with the deadly shooting of his 16-year-old nephew.
James Lee Graham, 48, of Detroit, is charged with open murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearms violations.
Freeland Pridgen was shot and killed Friday in the 9100 block of Ward Avenue.
According to authorities, Graham and Pridgen got into a verbal altercation, which led to Graham retrieving a shotgun from another room. The gun allegedly discharged and struck Pridgen.
Pridgen was taken to the hospital and died the following day.
Graham was taken into custody Tuesday near Joy Road and Northfield Street.
