Detroit cracks down on landlords who are keeping tenants in the cold

DETROIT – Winter arrived in a bone-chilling, winery blast and by all indications, it will only get colder from here on out.

And that’s why sufficient heating is critical for families in Detroit, but Local 4’s Defenders discovered some landlords who are not delivering what they promised when the lease was signed – adequate heat.

According to the city, there are 143 landlords that have been ticketed for improper heat. Some of the landlords provided their tenants with no heat, while others didn’t provide enough.

If you have a complaint about heat in your Detroit building, email the city of Detroit about it at  propertymaintenance@detroitmi.gov or call 313-628-2451.
