Former Wayne County Treasurer's Office employee sentenced in criminal sexual assault case

Dennis Patterson sentenced to 10 months to 4 years behind bars


WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A former employee in the Wayne County Treasurer's Office was sentenced Thursday after being convicted of three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Dennis Patterson, of Detroit, was sentenced to 10 months to four years in the Michigan Department of Corrections. He must also register as a sex offender and participate in sex offender counseling.

Patterson worked as a mail clerk in Wayne County for 16 years until June 20, 2016.

In September 2015, Patterson inappropriately touched a 49-year-old woman while working in the Treasurer's Office in the 400 block of Monroe Street in Detroit.

Patterson touched a 44-year-old woman working in the Treasurer's Office on April 20, 2016, while she was walking down a hallway.

Police said Patterson inappropriately touched a 45-year-old woman on June 18, 2016 at the Nankin Mills area of Hines Park. Patteron touched the woman while they were sitting at a table in an information booth.

All three incidents were reported to supervisors and resulted in four-degree criminal sexual assault charges.
