Family Dollar store employee fakes robbery, lands in jail, police say


PONTIAC. Mich. – A discount store employee and her accomplice were arrested after they reported a fake armed robbery in Pontiac, police said.

Police said at approximately 6 a.m. they responded to a call about an armed robbery at the Family Dollar in the 1200 block of Baldwin Road in Pontiac.

The store clerk told officers  she was robbed when she was walking toward her vehicle, adding that the robbers stole a large sum of money that belonged to the Family Dollar, according to police

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the store clerk and a male accomplice set up the armed robbery, police said.

Both suspects were taken into custody pending charges. The stolen money was recovered and the incident remains under investigation.
