Livonia school board to discuss whether to close 2 schools

Committee to discuss closing Cass, Garfield elementary schools

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Livonia Board of Education might decide Monday evening to close two schools in the district.

The district has been experiencing declining enrollment. There are 1,500 fewer students in Livonia schools than there were five years ago.

A committee of parents, staff and community members has recommended the closing of Cass and Garfield elementary schools.

The board will consider the recommendation at the board offices.
