Father arrested after 2 boys found wandering streets of Detroit

Boys say they were left alone for several days

DETROIT – Two young boys are safe Tuesday night after a good Samaritan found them wandering alone in the snow.

The boys, ages 7 and 8, were found a block away from their home on Detroit's west side. One of the boys was wearing shorts.

Manson McCann said he found the children, and they told him they were staying home alone for several days.

McCann called police and fed the boys until officers arrived.

"They told me they were there for a couple days," McCann said. "Like two or there days. You could tell that it had been a couple of days. They were even attempting to actually cut their own hair. They were taking care of themselves."

Police went to the children's apartment and said the conditions inside were filthy.

Officers eventually tracked down the boys' father and took him into custody.

The boys are being cared for by their aunt.
