Flint boy shoots father after mistaking him for burglar, police say

Father expected to be OK

FLINT, Mich. – A Flint boy accidentally shot his father Monday after mistaking him for a burglar, police said.

The shooting happened before 9 p.m. Monday. Police said the boy thought his father was a burglar in their home and fired a shot at him.

The father is expected to be OK, officials said.

It's unclear where the boy got the gun, or who the gun belonged to.

The home is on West Ruth Avenue near Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police aren't sharing any other details about the incident.
