NOVI, Mich. – A boil water advisory is in effect for parts of Novi after a water main break on 8 Mile Road west of Haggerty Road.
The boil water advisory was issued for the area bordered by Haggerty Road, Cambridge Drive, Orchard Hill Place and 8 Mile Road.
Residents shouldn't use water from their taps for drinking or cooking unless it is boiled for five minutes. If the water is used for drinking, it should be cooled in a sealed container after boiling.
Total coliform bacteria analysis testing began Thursday. The notice will be in effect until results are in compliance with EPA drinking water standards.
Officials said they expect the notice to be lifted within 48 hours. A boil-water termination notice will be issued when the water is safe to use.
Novi has begun flushing the water systems in all affected areas.
