FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a deadly crash Thursday night in Frenchtown Township.

Jimmie Holmes Jr., 46, was driving south on Newport South Road, south of Swan Creek Road, around 11:57 p.m. when he lost control of his 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. He drove off the road to the right and crashed into the ditch, police said.

The van rolled multiple times, and Holmes was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, but later died.

The crash is under investigation. Call 734-240-7715 with information.
