Fundraiser started to support family of Michigan airman killed in New Mexico plane crash
A fundraiser was started to support the wife and family of an Air Force pilot from Novi who was killed in a plane crash in New Mexico Tuesday.
Capt. Andrew Becker, 33, and two other service members died Tuesday night after the U-28A they were flying in crashed. The crash occurred about one quarter-mile east of Clovis Municipal Airport.
The plane was from Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico.
Becker was a pilot for the 318th Special Operations Squadron, and served in the Air Force for 10 years.
According to the fundraiser page created for his family, Becker was always making those around him happy. His nickname was "The Laugher.”
He leaves behind a wife, Shelly, and parents, Gary and Stacey.
Capt. Kenneth Dalga, 29, and 1st Lt. Frederick Dellecker, 26, were also killed in the crash. Dalga was a combat systems officer, and Dellecker was a co-pilot.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
