Detroit police officer with rare form of cancer dies


DETROIT – Frank Gregory, a 20-year-old veteran Detroit police officer, died Tuesday morning.

Gregory was battling a rare form of cancer that was discovered last year after he found a mass on his thigh.

He worked for DPD’s 12th Precinct.

Detroit police posted a statement on Facebook:

The Detroit Police Department mourns the loss of one of our favorite sons. Officer Frank Gregory lost his battle with cancer early this morning. Officer Gregory was a 20 year veteran of the Department and will always be remembered for his enticing smile, his electrifying energy and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. The Detroit Police Department would like his family to know, that our love and support are with you always, especially during these trying times.
