Delta flight delays trap passengers for hours at Detroit Metro

Passengers waited in lines for hours in return, and got updates from Delta Airlines delaying their flights. More than 3,000 flights are affected after storms rolled through the south on Wednesday.

Passengers are being told their flights could be delayed for days. Detroit Metropolitan Airport is a Delta hub, and passengers waited in long lines to try and get off the ground. Jamie Ferguson has been sitting in the terminal all day trying to get to Kansas City.

"It started around 11:50 a.m. and then the flight was delayed to 3:50 p.m., 4:26 p.m., 5 something and then 7:50 p.m.," Ferguson said.

The departure board flashed cancelations, but it was the constant delay messages that really started to make passengers' patience wear thin.

Then there are those who aren't going to let a little delay get in their way. Tomo Miličević is the  lead guitarist for the band 30 Seconds to Mars.

His flight from LA to Detroit was canceled.

Miličević is a Detroit Red Wings fan and he has tickets for the last games at Joe Louis Arena this weekend and he won't miss it. "So, I'm in a car right now driving to Phoenix and get there in the morning and I'm going to take a flight to Detroit so I can definitely make the game, nothing can stop me," he said. If his Phoenix flight gets delayed? "I'll just keep driving east."
