Mother of child found wandering on Detroit's west side found

Update: The child has been released to the custody of a family member while Detroit Police Child Abuse and Child Protective Services investigate.

Police say a child has been found wandering along Joy Road and the Southfield Freeway Service Drive  on Detroit's west side.

The child was found around 3:00 a.m. Sunday by someone who noticed her walking alone. The girl is unable to give information on her name, age, or information on her parents.

The child is being held at the 6th precinct in Detroit.

She is described as a black female who is approximately 2-3 years old. She was found with several ponytails, a dark gray puff coat, a pink long sleeve shirt, black glittered leggings and white Jordan gym shoes.
