Detroit woman heartbroken after 2 sons killed in Detroit shooting

Alex Stewart, Louis Phillips killed Sunday on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – A Detroit woman will be forced to plan two funerals this week after her sons were killed by gun violence.

Lada Watts' two sons, 24-year-old Alex and 28-year-old Louis, were gunned down Sunday night on Detroit's west side. She said her sons will be missed, and she still can't believe they're gone.

"I'm lost for words," Watts said. "I lost two children in one day, and it hurts. It hurts."

Watts raced to the scene on Schaefer Highway when she heard her two sons had been shot.

"When I got the call, I was praying that it wasn't as bad as they said it was," Watts said.

But she soon realized both of her sons were gone, and she said she still has no idea why they were killed.

"From what I understand, it had nothing to do with them," Watts said.

She said her sons were talented and wanted to do something good with their lives.

"Louie always wanted to act, and he did for a while, and Alex, he had a dream to draw," Watts said.

Watts said she can't get Sunday's graphic scene out of her mind.

"When I got here, my son was laying on the ground," Watts said. "He laid out here for seven hours."

She said she feels guilty she wasn't there with Alex in the hospital when he died.

"I just couldn't be in two places at one time," Watts said.

Now she has a strong message for the person who carelessly stole her son's lives and left her with a heavy heart.

"I hope you rot in hell, and I hope every day you live your life will be miserable, and I don't think I'll ever forgive them," Watts said.

You can donate to the family's GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
