Detroit Tigers team up with DFD to help disabled firefighters

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers are teaming up with the Detroit Fire Department to help disabled firefighters.

"The Detroit Firemen's Fund Association was established 1867 for the relief of disabled firefighters. Each year the Firemen's Fund provides assistance to many disabled firefighters and their families. This April, we will be celebrating our 150th anniversary helping the firefighters and families of firefighters here in Detroit.

"This year, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Firemen's Fund are teaming up for a wonderful event on April 26, 2017. 

"April 26, 2017 is Firefighter Day at Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers. It is our intent to make sure that Firefighters all around the viewing area are aware of this special day.

"A special Challenge Coin designed by the Fund and the Detroit Tiger organization will be offered as a special gift with the purchase of each ticket package on Firefighter Day at Comerica Park.

"Five dollars out of each Challenge Coin ticket package will be donated to the Detroit Firemen's Fund Association."
