String of home invasions keep Grosse Pointe residents on high alert
GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – Police in the Grosse Pointe area are investigating multiple home invasions which have occurred in the last week.
Authorities responded to a call of a break-in Sunday morning in the 400 block of Lothrop in Grosse Pointe Farms. Police said a woman was sitting on her couch around 4 a.m. when she heard a noise from the back of her home. When she went to investigate the noise, she saw a man closing the window and leaving her.
Last week, an armed man entered a home in the 19000 block of Raymond Street and sexually assaulted a woman.
According to police, a similar break-in at a home in the 700 block of Washington Road Saturday occurred just one week after the sexual assault incident.
Police are looking into whether the same person is responsible for the break-ins.
The man in the first incident was described by authorities as white and tall with a thin build.
He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, dark-colored jeans, a black mask and had a handgun.
Police are urging residents in the area to keep their doors and windows locked and to notify police if they notice anything suspicious in the area.
