The Downtown Boxing Gym has a Youth Program that offers a free after-school academic and athletic program. The gym strives to help children in the community by providing tutoring and academic support, college and career readiness, healthy meals, daily van rides, athletics, and more.

The program currently has a waitlist with almost 800 kids on it. Winning the contest would allow the program to accept more students, bring on more staff, add enrichment programs, and purchase supplies.

The founder and CEO of the program, Khali Sweeney, is a Detroit native who overcame educational struggles himself. Now his mission is to help other Detroit students reach their full potential through the Youth Program.

Voting for the gym is easy. Click here to watch their video story and submit your vote once a day through May 12. The ideas with the most votes will face a panel of judges who will choose the winners.
