Police believe robbery at Warren gas station could have been inside job

Security camera video shows man taking safe from gas station

WARREN, Mich. – Security camera video taken overnight Sunday shows someone walking into a Shell gas station in Warren and stealing a safe.

The man showed up at the gas station near 10 Mile and Hoover roads well equipped for the robbery, according to authorities. Police said there was no broken glass, and the way the thief got in made it appear that he'd been there before.

Video shows the man calmly walking into the gas station, unlocking the front door and unlocking a second door to the back.

Police said the man walked out carrying the safe 12 seconds later.

The man had keys to the gas station and knew exactly what he was looking for. He knew the cameras were on, so he wore a mask that completely covered his face, police said.

The entire robbery lasted about 30 seconds, and police are speculating that it was an inside job.

Warren police haven't commented on a suspect or anything else in connection with the case.
