DETROIT – An Oakland International Academy school bus crashed Wednesday into the side of an apartment building on Charles Street near Mound Road on Detroit's east side.
Police said children were aboard the bus at the time of the crash, but they are believed to be OK. They have been safely removed from the bus and are walking around at the scene.
The 56-year-old bus driver who struck the building was initially stuck on the bus, but officials were able to remove him, police said. He was transported to a nearby hospital.
