TROY, Mich. – A 68-year-old drunken driver crashed her car into the concrete pillars at the emergency room entrance of William Beaumont Hospital on Monday.
According to police, the woman from Sterling Heights told police she had been drinking at a friend’s house and felt her heart pounding so she decided to drive herself to the hospital.
She crashed her 2013 white Ford Fusion at the hospital around 8 p.m.
The responding officers noticed an odor of alcohol emanating from the woman, police said. Police conducted several sobriety evaluations, in which the woman performed poorly.
She submitted to a preliminary breath test and blew 0.16, police said.
After she was medically cleared by the emergency room doctor, she was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
