WATCH LIVE: Trump announces decission on US pledge to Paris Agreement

President Trump is set to make a major announcement Thursday afternoon about the United States' pledge to the Paris climate agreement.

  • ClickOnDetroit will live stream the announcement here. It's expected about 3 p.m. Thursday.

As of this year, 147 countries have ratified the Paris Agreement, which has a goal of keeping the global average temperature increase to below 2 degrees C. The idea is that if enough countries make a pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their territory then the entire world will be able to battle global warming together.

But President Trump could decide to pull the United States out of the agreement. When the agreement was made, the U.S. had pledged to reduce its climate emissions by 26-28 percent in a decade.

The U.S. trails only China when it comes to total greenhouse gas emissions.
